Finding Your Skill Level
Confused about which division you should register for? Use this handy guide to make a decision.
We believe in creating a league that offers both competitive and enjoyable gameplay. One of the most important ways in which we ensure this is placing players in the right division.
The following scales are meant to refer to USAPA ratings for players who are familiar with that.
Beginner (2.0 - 2.9)
New to the pickleball party? No problem! Players in this level are new to pickleball or have limited experience. Your learning to sustain short rallies with players of equal ability and are beginning to understand the fundamental rules, scoring, and basic shots.
Lower Intermediate (3.0 - 3.49)
You’re on the road to pickleball greatness! You have a basic understanding of the game and can keep the ball in play with moderate success. You’re developing consistency with your shots and starting to approach the net more. You’re learning to vary your game and understand basic positioning and strategy.
Upper Intermediate (3.5 - 4)
You’re improving in shot control, consistency, and starting to use strategy in your play. Familiar with a variety of shots, you’re improving your net play and are improving your volley, but it’s not quite perfect. You can sustain medium-length rallies.
Advanced (4.0+)
You have mastered shot types, strategies, and can vary your gameplay. You’re comfortable at the net and can consistently win points with your skill. Your points are usually very competitive and you have no problem with extended rallies. You understand and can execute advanced techniques like effective 3rd shots, dinks, and overhead putaways.
